Dursley News - November 2011 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
November was quite a busy month as construction of the new Vale Community Hospital came to a conclusion ready for opening at the start of December. This building, which stands near the bottom of Kingshill Lane, is an impressive piece of architecture, featuring colours from the local areas, such as Uley Blue and Stroud Scarlet, both previously used in the wool industry. Construction of the new timber framed building intended to house the Cam Parish Council offices is also advancing at a rapid rate and the view is changing daily. After many years of looking downtrodden and forgotten it seems the old toll house building on Kingshilll Road will be smartened up as a program of renovation is beginning. The old cafe/cycle shop building which stood next to it has been demolished and the inside of the toll house has been gutted prior to refurbishment. Towards the end of the month, Dursley had a late night shopping day and the whole town came alive with crowds, music, crafts and food on offer and the town's lights were switched on by the Mayor, Jane Ball. |
