Dursley News - January 2015

The big news as 2015 gets underway is that demolition of the Lister's factory has begun in earnest. This really is the sign that the town's connection with the world renowned engineering company really is over after a period of almost 150 years. The heavy machinery from Cuddy, the company contracted to do the demolition, has arrived on site and work is starting on the removal of internal structure and fittings. The old Lister Shearing buildings are also rapidly disappearing. A more positive event is the the renovation of the old Tabernacle Manse as the town's youth club, a long awaited development. Additionally new playground equipment is being constructed on the recreation ground. Elsewhere in town, premises continue to change hands.
