Dursley News - October 2010

More of the same this month as work continues on the new Community Hospital on the Littlecombe site. The steelwork is now complete and work is proceeding on the internal floors and other structures prior to a start being made on the external brickwork. When complete the hospital will provide health and social care facilities for the Berkeley Vale area under one roof. The hospital is scheduled to open towards the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012.

Closer to Dursley town centre, there was a serious fire at one of the old houses in the Broadwell, near Silver Street which damaged the roof and loft space. It was fortunately extinguished before it spread to the rest of the house.

    Fire in the Broadwell
Fire broke out during the morning of October 28th in the roof of one of the houses in the Broadwell. Four fire engines went to the scene, two from Dursley, one from Wotton and one from Stroud and luckily stopped it spreading too far. Two days later, tarpaulins could be seen on the damaged section.
