Dursley News - May 2009

No big developments this month. Work on Sainsbury's has stopped for a few months while planning applications are resubmitted and consequently the town centre has taken on a temporary appearance for a while. However, the new Rednock School building work is well on track and a lot of internal fitting out is going on in preparation for opening in September.

Work on the Crest-Nicholson site (the old Bymacks factory) has been completed apart from one plot at the bottom end of Long Street which is being sold off for separate redevelopment.

The final building plot on Long Street
All the houses have now been built on the Crest-Nicholson site/Bymacks site adjacent to Long Street, apart from the one plot close to the Priory, once home to the Victoria Works - if only it hadn't been damaged in the fire of 2004. This last plot is now being sold off separately for redevelopment.

    Old shop sign uncovered
With the move of Blueboy Carpets from Parsonage Street to Long Street, removal of the sign uncovered that of a previous tenant, Mortimer, a market gardener's outlet.

    The building site stands idle
With work on the Sainsbury's site temporarily suspended the centre of Dursley is looking somewhat empty. Hopefully this will all restart soon.
